Vivek Oberoi in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit

Vivek Oberoi, the actor from Bollywood, has been officially declared a cast member of Spirit, which is the forthcoming Telugu cop action thriller drama directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film will headline Prabhas and will be the very first cooperative effort of the two heroes. Oberoi, through social media, made a public announcement of his participation, and he was very positive about the project. He wrote, “Super kicked about bringing this action to life with your unmatched magic,” addressing Prabhas. The news was released just after the ‘SOUND -STORY’ teaser provided for the film, which was screened on Prabhas’s 46th birthday, which was celebrated by fans.

Fans Excited for Vivek Oberoi’s Villainous Comeback

The casting of Oberoi has created a lot of noise and attention around the film, and most of the fans are looking forward to him playing an evil character again. Oberoi has played villain characters in movies like Rakta Charitra (2010) in Hindi, Lucifer (2019), and Kaduva (2022) in Malayalam. Fans are wishing that his character in Spirit would be as strong a comeback as Bobby Deol’s in Animal (2023), where he had to portray an antagonist, Abrar Haque, who was quite menacing and deadly. That’s the reason why fans are so much excited to see Vivek Oberoi’s debut in Telugu films, that too as a Sandeep Reddy Vanga villain.

A Star-Studded Ensemble Cast

The cast of Spirit not only includes Prabhas and Vivek Oberoi but also offers a talented ensemble of actors. Triptii Dimri, who is best known for her performances in Laila Majnu (2018) and Bulbbul (2020), has been brought on board as the female lead, thus making her debut in Telugu films. The 86-year-old veteran actress Kanchana adds her decades of experience to the project, thus enhancing the movie. The film also stars Prakash Raj, a very prominent Indian actor celebrated for his different roles in Indian cinema.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Lucky Charm” Connection with the Oberois

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga undoubtedly has a special connection with the Oberoi family. Vivek Oberoi’s father, the veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, was cast in Vanga’s last hits Kabir Singh (2019) and Animal (2023) and has taken the “lucky charm” tag of the director. It is rumoured that the director is going to cast Suresh Oberoi in Spirit too, further corroborating his long collaboration with the director. Vivek was once their grateful one when he expressed, “I’m so thankful to Sandeep for insisting Dad be part of Animal– he called him his lucky charm since Kabir Singh”. Social media fans have also acknowledged this link, with one suggesting, “I hope this is a bigger comeback than Bobby sir.”

A Glimpse into the Film’s Tone

The ‘SOUND-STORY” teaser, which has been out recently, has given the audience a glimpse of the film’s tone and storyline. The teaser shows the cutting-edge conversations and fiery actions, indicating that Prabhas is playing a dark and brutal cop character in the movie. Spirit is likely to deal with the subjects of justice, inner conflict, and moral ambiguity, which are common in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s style of narrating stories.
