The Telangana government has placed specific restrictions on Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s Hyderabad concert, scheduled as part of his Dil-Luminati Tour on November 15. A notice issued to the organisers bars the performance of songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence, citing concerns about their impact on the audience, especially children.
The District Welfare Officer of the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens, Rangareddy, issued the notice after a resident of Chandigarh submitted a representation with video evidence. The representation pointed out that Diljit had previously sung such songs during a live show at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The notice also includes additional restrictions, such as a prohibition on the use of children on stage during the concert. Loud sounds and flashing lights, which could be harmful to children, were also flagged. These measures reflect the government’s emphasis on safeguarding public welfare and ensuring a family-friendly event environment.
Diljit Dosanjh, known for his vibrant performances and his deep connection with fans, arrived in Hyderabad ahead of the event. A video on his social media platforms showed him visiting the historic Charminar, offering prayers at a temple and a Gurudwara, and connecting with the local culture.
While these restrictions have sparked discussions about artistic freedom and responsible entertainment, they underscore the importance of balancing cultural expression with public safety and sensitivity. Diljit’s fans are eagerly anticipating the concert and his ability to adapt while delivering a memorable performance.
