Finally, Actor Salman Khan has spoken out regarding some very serious claims concerning the making of Sikandar, especially those from director AR Murugadoss about being a late comer and a lazy actor. He pointed out in one of the Bigg Boss 19 Weekend Kaa Vaar episodes that, while some allegations had been made, many were either exaggerated or misinterpreted.
Context: What Ignited the Discussion
The first public statement of AR Murugadoss was that filming became a difficult task because Salman would be late to the set—at times only by 8-9 PM—and thus night shoots were being forced to cover scenes meant for daylight. The director argued that this would not only affect the main actors but also the children actors who would be made to perform at odd hours and consequently the whole film would come out as below average.
Sajid Nadiadwala, under his production company, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, made Sikandar, which was released on March 30, 2025, and the public gaze turned not only for its content but also for the behind-the-scenes stories. Despite being released at the most celebrated time for a Salman Khan movie, Eid, Sikandar was a major failure in terms of both critical and commercial success.
Salman’s Side of the Story: Injury, Scheduling & Clarifications
Salman acknowledged that he did arrive on set late in some instances, by 9 PM, as Murugadoss claimed. But he emphasised that his broken ribs played a big part. Because of the injury, mobility was painful—he said he couldn’t sit, stand, cough, or even laugh properly because of the severe pain he was going through.
He also pointed out that parts of the alleged criticisms feel disingenuous. For example, he compared his timing with that of an Sivakarthikeyan in Madharaasi, another 2025 film by Murugadoss, who reportedly arrived by 6 AM.
Salman pushed back on rumors that he’s not serious or dedicated; he said his discipline is intact even if his working hours are different. He claimed he has many other commitments—work, fitness, pre-shoot prep—that affect his schedule.
Creative spin: Pain turned into performance
Despite the rib injury, Salman said he didn’t skip work. He shot a song the very next day after fracturing two ribs. A particular dance step where he holds his ribs was adapted into the choreography—and the whole dance troupe followed that step. It became a kind of creative feature born from adversity and Salman dedicated all he could do in the set with that injury to the film.
After all the controversy and the heated arguments to one another, one thing is certain that the debate of the failure of Sikander is not going to end anytime soon. Fans are expected to have a proper dissection on why the film tanked at every level.
