Ranveer’s Day in Court: Supreme Court to Hear Ranveer Allahbadia’s Plea Today

A simple question in a comedy show can take you to jail. Yes, it is true and the Ranveer Allahbadia Row in India Got Latent takes a new turn today. The Supreme Court of India is set to hear Allahbadia’s plea on the controversial remark on the India Got Latent. The bench of judges including N. Kotiswar Singh and Surya Kant is set to hear the plea against all the FIRs against him.

The matter was escalated in the court by Abhinav Chandrachud who is none other than former CJI DY Chandrachud’s son. His insistence on the matter led to the Supreme Court’s urgent listing of the incident. 

The India Got Latent Controversy Unfolds

Ranveer Allahbadia popular for his podcast BeerBiceps on the social media platform was invited to judge Samai Raina’s show India Got Latent. This is a stand-up talent show highlighting interesting characters among us where slang and sexist jokes are a common occurrence.

In this show Allahbadia one single question that wasn’t even an original led to a series of FIRs against the host of the show Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. The controversial question in the talks was “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”

A remark that shocked even the host and audience however, nothing would have prepared Raina or Allahbadia for the criticism and protest against the remark. Soon the clips of the particular episode went viral leading to the first FIR in Guwahati, Assam. This crude remark led to several protests from Women’s Protection Commissions across the country leading to finally The Supreme Court of India’s hearing on the accused plea on 18th February 2025.

Samai Raina’s Stance In The Controversy

While Raveen Allahbadia is the root of the controversy the heat of the incident is affecting the host of the India Got Latent show. Samai Raina in a recent statement, expressed his view on the incident: “Everything that has been happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all of India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

While Allahbadia confessed to not being a professional comedian and understanding the seriousness of the remark on the show. In a video clip, he expresses his regret on the matter and his incapacity to crack a joke. As of now, the video has been removed from YouTube and Samai Raina’s channel however the clips are still circulating the web because of the spotlight on the matter.
