As per the reports, the much-awaited second part of Nitesh Tiwari’s epic saga Ramayan will start its shooting in January 2026. The filmmakers are said to be working on setting up the pre-production schedules, VFX planning, and location logistics as they get ready to unfold the story into an even bigger chapter. With Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Ram and Yash playing Ravana, Ramayan 2 takes over the huge canvas of the first part, which is already filmed and has progressed to the VFX stage. The initial installment of “Ramayan” will be released on Diwali 2026, while the second part will be released on Diwali 2027. Filming is set to start in January 2026.

A Mega-Budget Vision Backed by Namit Malhotra

Unusual financial commitment is being shown by the producer Namit Malhotra to the franchise. The reports indicate that the Ramayan two-part saga might involve expenditure in the range of around ₹1,600 crore to ₹4,000 crore, thus making it the most expensive project in Indian cinema’s history. The funding is said to be from personal sources, which illustrates the faith of the team in the worldwide attractiveness and the cultural power of the story to the extent that they are going to set new bars in mythological filmmaking.

Production Progress and Heavy VFX Work

The project is mainly based on its advanced VFX planning, which is a big highlight. Reports from the industry say that 75% of the post-production for the second part will be done before the first part is released, thus guaranteeing a smooth cinematic experience through both films. It is said that the edit for the first part of Ramayan is already locked, and the major VFX activity is going on to enhance the visual universe of Ayodhya, Lanka, and the supernatural landscapes of the epic.

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s Character

It is reported that, although both Ranbir Kapoor and Yash are the main actors in the epic, they might not be on the screen together for a long time in the sequel. This is similar to the legendary theme, where the travels of Ram and Ravana are told separately until the final battle, which is the turning point of the whole story. The emphasis is still on developing strong, individual character arcs that eventually meet in an emotionally intense and visually stunning climax. Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman are among the other cast members.

The Larger Vision for Ramayan

The magnitude of Ramayan is not limited to its characters. The venture intends to blend age-old Indian narrating with marvelous cinematographic techniques, thereby providing a new version of the epic that speaks to the hearts of the audience all over the world. Huge sets, collaboration with VFX studios worldwide, and a lot of motion capture have made the franchise comparable to the best and most expensive in the global cinematic universe. As audiences get excited, the film promises to become a landmark event in filmmaking with the brave mix of mythology, technology, and cultural heritage.
