Rajkumar Santoshi to Reunite with Sunny Deol for Jaat 2

Rajkumar Santoshi is the director and is teaming up with Sunny Deol reportedly once again for Jaat 2, the follow-up to the mass-entertainer Jaat.

Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi

Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol formed an incredible team of box office hits and also among critics acclaimed movies during the years, like Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993), and Ghatak (1996), and now they are making a comeback together with Jaat 2 according to reports. Several reports state that the project is in its early days, but the reunion has already divided fans. One group thinks that the director of the original Jaat (2025) should be at the helm of the sequel also. Another group thinks that Santoshi is the right choice to direct Deol given the duo’s 100% track record.

Jaat First Part: A Quick Recap

The original Jaat, which came out in 2025, was the very first Hindi movie directed by Telugu director Gopichand Malineni. Launched on a high note with producers Mythri Movie Makers (in their Hindi debut), Zee Studios, and People Media Factory, the film was a perfect blend of high-energy action drama, women’s empowerment, and a strong rural setting. The film could not have asked for a better cast, featuring the likes of Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Saiyami Kher. It was a movie that mixed patriotism, revenge, and raw emotion in Deol’s classic style. The movie got mixed reviews, but still, Jaat performed a bit better than expected at the box office by making about ₹118.85 crore gross worldwide with an Indian net collection of ₹88.72 crore (Sacnilk Report). The film’s magnificent dialogues, massive action scenes and Deol’s formidable presence on screen all contributed to creating a cult following for Jaat, thus perfectly laying the ground for the much-awaited sequel, Jaat 2, to be produced.

From Jaat to Jaat 2: What’s Expected

The first Jaat was a major action movie for Sunny Deol, and the follow-up firmly promises it with even larger-scale acts. The return of Santoshi in the director’s seat is one of the factors that made the rumours that the film will be so economically extravagant, full of ‘Deol’ energy, and with the social concern-massy flavour that they are famous for.. Although official dates and full cast have not yet been released, it is believed that pre-production has not only started but is also of an enthusiastic nature.

Why This Collaboration Matters

This reunion is not just the continuation of a marriage of sorts but the dynamic pairing’s return to Hindi cinema. Rajkumar Santoshi first made it big in the 1990s, and that was made possible with action dramas featuring Sunny Deol. Now their new film certainly benefits from two angles: nostalgia and promise. For the followers of fast-paced Bollywood cinema, Jaat 2 is probably the most significant and star-studded reunion of the year.
