Bedi, while talking to Instant Bollywood, explained that he was at the Manhunt International event in Australia, where he got to go after winning the Mr. India title. He then said that during that same month, Sushmita Sen had just been crowned Miss Universe and Aishwarya Rai had won Miss World. The three pageants merged into one big celebration together, and the famous photograph of Bedi and Aishwarya on stage turned out to be the masterpiece of the moment.

Rajat, in reflecting on his coming into pageants, admitted to feeling insecure. He said in a recent interview, “I was quite excited and started to exercise. It was a significant event, as Gladrags was a major magazine. The first prize was a beautiful car and an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore. When I heard about it, I told myself, ‘Apne ko toh milna nahin hai’. I was hoping to be noticed if I were on stage.”

He has been a celebrated actor post his hiatus from the film industry for taking up his role as Jaraj Saxena in the series The Ba**ds of Bollywood. Bedi thanked the Khan family for the offer and remarked that the character was drawn from his life experiences: “I’m overwhelmed that it has been received so well.
