If you think Pushpa 2 is done breaking records after 32 days of its release, then you are wrong. Sukumar’s Pushpa 2 just broke S. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion record as the highest-grossing film in Indian film history. The film grossed over ₹1438 crore in India, while its global gross amount accounts for ₹1831 crores.
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Pushpa 2 is a much-awaited sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, which became a blockbuster in 2021. The movie created a buzz in 2021 with its music, dance numbers, packed action scenes, and intense storytelling, which were mind-blowing. The cast of the film also boosted its overall storytelling with their impeccable acting skills.
However, Pushpa witnessed history with its sequel in the fifth week of the film’s release in 2025. As the year started Pushpa 2 broke all records to become the highest-grossing film in India overtaking even the legendary Baahubali 2.
The news was shared by the Pushpa 2 team on social media: “#Pushpa2TheRule is now Indian cinema’s INDUSTRY HIT with THE HIGHEST EVER COLLECTION FOR A MOVIE IN INDIA. The WILDFIRE BLOCKBUSTER crosses a gross of 1831 CRORES in 32 days worldwide.”
This breaking news created a buzz online, and people started looking up the total earnings of the film online. According to Sacnilk, Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer Baahubali 2 collected over ₹1416 crores globally, while Pushpa’s India collection itself crossed ₹1438 crores.
In fact, for 8 years, Baahubali 2 captured the top position of the highest-grossing film in India, even after movies like Dangal and Jawan were released with stars like Amir Khan and SRK starring in the films. Therefore it took another Southern film to overtake the position of Baahubali 2 to become the highest-grossing movie in Indian cinema.
