Hrithik Roshan recently opened up about his experience working on War 2 in an Instagram post, admitting that during the shoot, he felt it was all “too easy”—an insight that comes after the film’s lukewarm box office response.
In a candid post, he uploaded a still from the film and wrote that playing Kabir felt like too much fun and was relaxed. He mentioned that director Ayan Mukherji took good care of him during the shoot, and he enjoyed the filming of the movie. Yet, he also revealed a counter-voice in his mind during production – a subtle warning that he’d grown overconfident. “Something was lurking behind that presumptuous certainty… this is too easy,” he wrote, acknowledging that not every film should or can be easy.
It’s a rare moment of self-reflection, showing Roshan confronting the gap between ease and excellence. It’s very important to take note for other actors from this realisation of Roshan that it could be harmful to feel very comfortable and assume everything is perfect during a shoot.
The 6th instalment of the YRF Spy Universe, War 2, had high expectations as part of pairing two superstars, Hrithik and Jr NTR. This directorial venture of Ayan Mukherji also stars Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana in prominent roles. But despite the star power, grandeur and scale, the film met with mixed to negative reviews and failed miserably at the box office. Made on a budget of a whopping 400 Cr, War 2 collected almost 236.55 Cr in its India net collections, making it one of the biggest box office failures of 2025 (as reported by Sacnilk). Though Roshan didn’t directly address the film’s financial performance in his note, his admission suggests he’s taking the feedback to heart.
As for what’s next, Hrithik has Krrish 4 lined up – a franchise that has always been a source of Hrithik’s mammoth box-office success. This time, he is also directing the part (in his directorial debut), and it is jointly produced by the home production of the Roshans, Filmkraft Productions Pvt. Ltd., and Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films.
