Celebrities want your attention, but only for the right reasons or when promoting their films. However, when it comes to fame’s negative aspects like critics or roasts, celebrity stars will shut those down in a jiffy.
A similar incident happened when comedian Sumit Saurav posted a video online that roasted Ajay Devgn’s career graph in Bollywood. This hilarious video devoid of any slang humorously criticizes the ‘Singham Again’ star on his choice of films and ads in his standup comedy skit.
However, after posting the said video on social media, it was taken down by the comedian. Saurav shared through his posts on social media, “Thank you for showing so much love to the recent YouTube video… I would like to update you all that I have taken down the video…”
Fans of the skit were quick to notice this development and caught up on the reason, which might be pressure from the PR team of Ajay Devgn. Often celebrities slap legal notice to pressurize comedians or critics to take down videos or reviews related to themselves.
In a democratic country, you can enjoy freedom of speech, so everybody has the right to their thoughts. However, where power disparity is evident among commoners and celebrity-politician-cricketers of India, freedom of speech takes a back step.
Fans of the comedian and netizen, however, quickly shared their opinion on the incident. One fan wrote, “I saw this hilarious (almost biographical) 10-minute standup comedy by Sumit Sourav. My wife and I had such a blast that our stomachs hurt. Today I went back to share it with my friends, and to my dismay, the video is nowhere to be found…
I digress, but I’m wondering who took it down? Is Ajay Devgn so petty that he took down a video by a standup comedian? Or was it his fans? Do Ajay Bhai have fans 😅 I mean, it’s not my joke; you’ll understand if you had watched the standup piece…”
Another fan wrote, “No explanation given by the comedian. Possibly a legal notice?” Hence, insecurities in celebrities are evident through this incident and other similar incidents. Several established actors like Taapsee Pannu and Ranbir Singh have explored roasts against them and gained massive appreciation from fans for being a sport.
Do you think roasting celebrities is unfounded or expected, as they garnered a level of attention that comes with fame?
