Tollywood is seeing an emerging conflict between two megastars, Dhanush and Nayanthara. You wouldn’t believe the reason for this conflict is a 3-second behind-the-scenes (BTS) of a Tamil movie. Danush slapped a 10 crore fine on Nayanthara for using this 3-second BTS clip on her upcoming documentary.
Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale is a documentary based on Nayanthara’s life and journey to stardom. So, this documentary explores parts of her life that are on and off-screen, which required several clips of her life as an actress.
So, naturally, she used some of her old film clips, one of them being Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a 2015 romantic comedy with another South star, Vijay Sethupati. This movie was produced by Dhanush under his production house, Wunderbar Films.
The actress penned an open letter, sharing that for two years she asked Dhanush to give her authorization to use a clip from the movie. However, to her dismay, Dhanish refused her request, and when she used just a 3-second BTS clip of the movie, he slammed her with a lawsuit of 10 crore.
The open letter also highlights her frustration with the director’s decision to sue her for a BTS clip. On Nayanthara’s post, several celebrities have come out in support of her by liking and commenting on her post.
However, on the other hand, Dhanush fans feel it is hypocritical for the actress to sell her wedding and documentary rights to Netflix and not compensate Dhanush for using his movie clip in her documentary.
Dhanush fans have come out to support him and slammed the actress for her ‘PR stunt’ using Dhanush’s name to pull attention to her documentary. Nayanthara’s documentary hasn’t received the expected buzz, which is why fans feel she is using her sob story to gain sympathy.
