The chief designer of Dior womenswear, Maria Grazia Chiuri, brings elemental elegance to the Fall/Winter Collection of 2025. This collection of Chiuri might mark her departure from Dior, and she received appreciation from the crowd present at the show. At Paris Fashion Week, she highlighted the earth, fire, air, and ice elements in each of her clothing pieces.
Inspiration for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Statement Designs
Virginia Woolf’s Orlando was the inspiration for Maria Grazia Chiuri when it came to creating her pieces for Dior. She shared how the descriptions of dresses in the book inspired her to change the shapes and styles of costumes through the ages.
Her inspiration board on Dior is filled with Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville West, her lover, along with Robert Wilson, the scenographer who created the backdrop for the 1993 reading of Orlando by Isabelle Huppert.
Her work for the Bernard Arnault company LVMH led to crucial financial growth in the fashion sector. However, in recent years, critics of this French Fashion house have found the fashion stale, leading to speculation about Chiuri’s dismissal from the brand. However, no confirmation about the same has been made.
Maria shares, “Fashion used to be about family companies, and there were small audiences — clients and buyers. Now fashion is like a channel. It’s something more popular, it’s like pop. It’s a form of media.” Adding further, she said that fashion has changed in 40 years.
A Touch Of Elemental Expression Of Fire, Air, Ice, and Earth
The 25 minutes of the Dior show showcased costumes designed around the four elements of nature. The colours beige, slate grey, black, and green graced the runway of the 2025 Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter Show. The designs were influenced by the 1980s, including trench coats, fake fur long dresses, high leather boots, and cream and white-coloured blouses.
Several pieces contain lace and sheer materials that were stunningly showcased by models on the show. Maria Grazia Chiuri gave nine years to the brand LVMH, renowned for its luxury collections and accessories. This French powerhouse hosts several brands like Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Christian Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Loewe, Moet & Chandon, Sephora, Celine, Tiffany & Co., TAG Heuer, and so on. She was the first woman to be named the creative director of Dior in 2016. Several brands unveil their collection in the Paris Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2025-26 show, hoping to increase sales of luxury brands in this difficult global market.
However, only with time can it be said if Maris’s Elemental collection faired well for LVMH. So, did you like the latest Dior Collection for Fall-Winter 2025-26? Share your thoughts with us.
