Dinjith Ayyathan’s Malayalam thriller Eko has made a very strong impact on the audience and has gotten a lot of praise all over social media amid its release today. The audience is talking about the movie’s gripping mystery, strong performances, and high-quality technical craftsmanship and is calling the film the best among the innovative thrillers that are coming up in Malayalam cinema’s list.

Earlier during the trailer release, the ‘Eko’ trailer instantly grabbed attention with its cryptic dialogue: “No man can judge another as precisely as a dog can.” And after the release, the audience can’t help but just quote their review in just one word: “a masterpiece.”

Eko is the last part of the Dinjith Ayyathan and Bahul Ramesh’s Animal Trilogy, which has already seen the release of Kishkindha Kaandam and Season 2 of Kerala Crime Files. 

The film, set on the foggy mountains of Kaattukunnu, depicts the story of Mlaathi Chedathi and Peyoos, two people who are trying to stay alive in a world filled with strange and mysterious happenings. Their stories become connected with the legend of Kuriyachan, a businessman with an ominous and troubling past, whose spirit appears to have been haunting the hills for eternity. 

Bahul Ramesh, the one who has both written the script and captured the visuals, creates a complex enigma where emotional conflict, mythology, and psychical pressure are perfectly integrated, thus offering the audience a very captivating story that is revealed gradually but very impactfully.

A Strong Ensemble Cast Adds Depth

The thrilling central act of Sandeep Pradeep gets a big boost, and Eko gets a big plus from having a well-chosen ensemble cast. Biana Momin, Sim Zhi Fei, Vineeth, Ranjith Shekhar, and Saheer Muhammed provide textured acting, which helps the film’s emotional part. Their barely noticeable gestures, calmness in speaking, and powerful presence on the screen work together to raise the tension and the authenticity of the plot. The actors each play a significant role in the mood of Kaattukunnu, drawing the audience into the lives of the characters who are attached to the dark secrets that are being revealed around them.
