Vishal Dadlani, a celebrated Indian music composer and playback singer shared his thoughts about a particular singer who sang in Coldplay’s concert. The singer he is criticizing is speculated to be Jasleen Royal who performed for Coldplay’s concert. Jasleen Royal went viral for her songs ‘Heeriya,’ ‘Sang Rahiyo,’ and several other Bollywood songs in India.
In a now-deleted post on Vishal Dadlani’s social media page, he shared, “I’m really sorry, but when you put a basic-to-bad singer in front of a large crowd on a large stage, all you’re doing is showing more people that the individual can’t really sing, and that sadly, systems within labels in India aren’t geared towards really promoting the best we have. I’ve just seen some clips, and my gosh… How embarrassing! For the Country, the artist, the public, as well as “the scene.”
Dadlani’s criticism online about the singer has caught a few eyes with a netizen commenting, “Seems like he is referring to Jasleen Royal’s performance during Coldplay’s concert in Mumbai.” While another wrote, “I agree with his point. I mean, come on, Shreya was in the crowd, and she would have been perfect for the performance—or even Sunidhi. Compared to Elyana, Jasleen seemed so nervous, and her voice was shaky and even broke while singing. As he mentioned, it doesn’t reflect well on the reputation either.”
During the Coldplay concert, celebrities like Shreya Ghoshal, Papon, Vijay Verma, and Suhana Khan were also present. Vishal Dadlani has unabashedly shared his opinions online criticizing the singer on her singing ability and painting our label’s inability to show real talents on such massive platforms. After all, India does have some of the best singing talents so why put these artists on stage with international legends?
