Konkona Sensharma

Konkona Sensharma, who has been praised for her acting and directing skills, has confirmed her next venture, as per reports, in a comedic web series. The director of A Death in the Gunj and part of Lust Stories 2 is now stepping into the realm of more entertaining storylines, thus marking a new phase in her creative arc. Future project details were shared by Konkona Sensharma when she said, “There is a comedy show that I am co-writing and co-directing with a college friend of mine, Jaydeep Sarkar. I am feeling a bit nervous, but the whole thing is just about fun and nothing more,” she stated.

Co-Writing and Co-Directing with Jaydeep Sarkar

Konkona will work hand in hand with her college buddy, Jaydeep Sarkar, to make this series a reality. She disclosed that she is co-writing and co-directing the project with him, describing the process as “nerve-wracking, yet fun.” The pair, who had first worked together on the 2014 short film Nayantara’s Necklace, have thus showcased their artistic cooperation that has lasted over the years. The work of Jaydeep Sarkar has also included segments in the anthologies like Feels Like Ishq (Netflix) and Rainbow Rishta (Amazon Prime Video) as part of his direction for OTT projects.

Setting and Genre: South Delhi Comedy

According to the reports and ongoing buzz, the series will take place in South Delhi; the urban setting would provide the narrative. This is a significant shift in her directorial style, showcasing the diversity of her creative portfolio. The show, unlike her earlier dramatic works, is going to have a comedy-romance tone, which is a reflection of Konkona’s daring and playful storytelling ability and shows her versatile portfolio.

Why Konkona Won’t Act in the Series

Konkona has made it clear that she will not be the leading actress in the upcoming series. She considers there are “countless marvelous actors” to work with and intends to concentrate entirely on directing. She confessed that performing and directing at the same time would be a big challenge and would complicate the process unnecessarily.

A Year of Milestones

The year 2025 has been a momentous one for Konkona. She marked 20 years since her Hindi film debut in Page 3 and collaborated again with Anurag Basu for Metro… In Dino, the sequel to Life in a Metro, she is returning to her role as the only actor from the original cast who is coming back. These achievements highlight her long-lasting presence and transformation in the film industry.

A Bold Creative Shift

Konkona’s comedy series is a new take on her usual theme of choice. In contrast to her earlier productions, which were full of emotional depth and drama, this one version has humor and relatability as its main points of focus, showing her growth as a director and a storyteller.
