Kesari: Chapter 2 teaser treated fans to a promising periodic drama on Friday starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday. However, every silver lining has a massive darkness in front of them and in this case, it’s Ananya Panday and the casting couch of Kesari: Chapter 2.
Ananya Panday, and Ananya Panday play lawyers in the film under the British Raj and fight against the cruelty of Britishers during theJallianwala Bagh massacre. While Ananya delivers her dialogue, “Uss din Jallianwala Bagh mein jo hua, uska sach poori duniya ko pata chalna chahiye (the world needs to know what happened at Jallianwala Bagh)” with all her might but her sobo accent is clearly audible in the dialogue.
A fan comments, “Pls god I hope I am wrong cause I hear an accent.” While another writes, “Yeh british ki taraf se hai kya /s (Is she from the British side).” Fans are mad, to say the least, but not really at Ananya Panday because she has her struggle of being a privileged actress in Bollywood. However, fans are mad at Dharma Productions and the casting director for giving such an important role to her whose Hindi isn’t really clear.
Dharma Productions Doesn’t Do Justice To Casting Like Amir Khan Productions
Laapataa Ladies under Amir Khan Productions rejected Amir Khan for the role of sub-inspector Shyam Manohar and chose Ravi Kishan to create a masterpiece of cinema with the right casting.
Then there is Dharma Productions would do anything but the right casting to make a film score points with the audiences. So, fans going ballistic on social platforms is acceptable when a periodic drama with such serious historical storytelling in Kesari: Chapter 2 casts Ananya Panday in the role of Dilreet Gill, a lawyer under the British Raj.
Here are some fans’ comments for you. A netizen comments, “Yeh kon cast kar rha hai inn sbko bhai.. yeh ladki call me bae mein theek thi, to actually cast her in a jalianwalaa bagh tragedy related film is baffling (who cast her brother… she was perfect for the role in Call Me Bae but her casting in Jallianwala Bagh related fim is baffling).”
While another writes, “….. Somebody nuke the dharma production studio.” Other pipes in with, “Fire the Casting Director.”
When the cast is not mentioned a fan labels Ananya Panday with a nepo kid label saying “She deserves the second Nepo kid title after Alia Bhatt because how is she continuously getting films and series with that acting????”
Kesari Positive Reception Made Kesari: Chapter 2 A Reality
Kesari’s positive reception and popularity starring Akshay Kumar, where the events leading to the Battle of Saragarhi were put forward on the big screen led to Kesari: Chapter 2. This periodic drama put forward the aftermath of the cruel Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Ananya’s poster release as Dilreet Gill is captioned with “Embraced by compassion, fueled by justice. Introducing Ananya Panday as Dilreet Gill in Kesari – Chapter 2. In cinemas worldwide, 18th April.” She is seen in her complete look as a lawyer in a sari with kohl-rimmed eyes.
The Silver Lining Of Kesari: Chapter 2
R. Madhavan looks phenomenal as McKinley and the poster was captioned, “Sharp, fearless, undeniable… but playing for the other side! Introducing R. Madhavan as Neville Mckinley in Kesari: Chapter 2.” The words exactly match his sharp look in the poster. Akshay Kumar’s look as a lawyer fighting for justice in the teaser looks great as well. The music score is amazing, to say the least, and powerful enough to give you goosebumps.
So, will Ananya Panday’s casting deter the movie’s potential to grab the crowds’ attention in the theaters? That answer is still debatable until 18th April 2025, when the film gets released. So what do you think of Ananya Panday’s look?
