Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, sat with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for a one-on-one interview on his podcast, ‘People By WTF.’ On 8th January 2025, he shared a few-second clip of his show with the mystery guest who doesn’t appear in the clip; however, his laugh is recorded in the short clip.
Netizens guessed who the mystery guest was from the clip and what Kamath’s last meeting with the individual was in Bengaluru. Nikhil says in the teaser clip, “You might not remember, but this happened a few years ago when you visited Bengaluru to meet people from the startup (ecosystem). Your last meeting of the night was with us. Even then, I was the one asking you questions as you sat with us for an hour.”
Nikhil is seen speaking in Hindi in the clip to the guest. Kamath Brothers, Nithin, and Nikhil founded the Zerodha app, and they were invited to the inauguration of the 14th Aero India. PM Modi met with several startup leaders at this event, and one of these founders was Nikhil Kamath.
The clip has gotten over 5 lakh views and triggered a conversation on social media among netizens. As per the speculation, this would be the first appearance of PM Modi in a televised podcast interview. PM did appear in many interviews and host his talk show ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ but it is the first podcast appearance for him.
Nikhil shared a picture with PM on his meeting in Bengaluru and captioned it as a ‘fanboy’ moment. However, the recent podcast teaser clip doesn’t come with any captions, creating the mystery factor for his upcoming podcast episode. A question that’s speculated online among netizens is if the podcast is scripted or not.
