Popular YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina are in the spotlight after their show India’s Got Latent got into serious trouble. The Maharashtra Cyber Police declared them guilty of sharing obscene content online.
This came after Ranveer asked a contestant a very inappropriate and sexual question during one of the episodes. Many people were upset, and it led to multiple police complaints in states like Maharashtra, Assam, and Rajasthan.
The police have filed cases against around 30 people connected to the show including hosts, guests, and participants. They have been booked under laws that deal with spreading obscene content online and disrespecting women.
Some of the charges also include promoting hate between groups and hurting religious feelings.
This issue is now a big topic in the content creation world. It shows that while creators have a lot of freedom online, they also have a big responsibility. Anything that is shared online can be watched by people of all ages and backgrounds.
So, content needs to be respectful and follow the law.
Ranveer and Samay have both said something about the issue. Ranveer wrote an apology post saying he was sorry for what he said and didn’t mean to hurt anyone. And Samay said he would fully help the probe. He also took down all of the show’s episodes.
This case is a strong reminder for all digital creators to be careful with what they post. Creative freedom is important, but it must go hand-in-hand with respect and responsibility.
