In the Paris Fashion Week, Gaurav Gupta Couture was released along with his inspiration for the collection, his wife, Navkirat Sodhi. Navkirat Sodhi is a poet who nearly burned to death 8 months ago in a fire accident in her house that she shared with her husband and designer Gaurav Gupta.
Therefore, his latest collection’s muse is none other than his wife, who is a survivor returning from death.
Gupta Titled His Spring Collection 2025 ‘Across The Flame’ in Paris Fashion Week
In the Paris Fashion Week 2025, Gupta revealed the collection name titled ‘Across The Flame.’ The couture dresses are inspired by his muse and wife, Sodhi who also graced the occasion with one of his pieces from the collection, a cream-colored draped corseted gown.
A near-death incident inspired the Indian designer Gaurav Gupta to breathe life into this latest collection. The incident is explained by Gaurav Gupta Instagram post, “One of the most life-changing experiences happened with us about 8 months ago. We were in a fire accident, literally from a candle.”
Adding further he revealed that he tried to douse the fire from his wife’s body with his hands, and sustained burns on them. He shared how his wife was in the ICU for 2.5 months, and the doctor gave her a 50% survival chance, adding, “She is a fighter and survivor…she is a goddess.”
During the show, Navkirat Sodhi donned a gown that highlighted her scars. The latest collection shows the beauty of resilience even in the face of death and Gupta’s love for her. This is a strong statement to individuals who survived the darkest of days with their strength, and individuals like Navkirat Sodhi who is indeed a survivor need appreciation and love.
