Diljit Dosanjh is one of the leading Punjabi singers. He recently came out against social media trolling in support of a fan who got emotional during his concert at Jaipur. Representing himself through Instagram, Diljit made the message. It goes thus: “Music is an emotion. It’s okay to cry.” He further explained stating that music reaches deep in the emotionally and how crying is the healthy expression of those emotions.

Scenes of female fans weeping during his performances peppered Diljit’s video. He said in a soulful voiceover: “Only those with emotions can cry. I have cried listening to music as well.” And he stressed how independent and individual women are, with the right to make merry without the judgment of society.

At one moment in his show, Diljit directly addressed the crowd to clear: “Disrespecting her means disrespecting the daughters of our nation.” He reminded his fans to respect woman while inviting them to treat them with dignity; he told them that such liberality is acceptable to state whatever it is- joy or tears.
