Did Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhava’ Get Pushed Back Because Of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2?

The release of Vicky Kaushal's film Chhava has been pushed to February 2025, reportedly to avoid a clash with Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2, allowing the movie to align with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhava release pushed to February 2025

A common phenomenon in the Indian film industry is that big-budget films with famous celebrities are released on the same date, leading to clashes and competition at the box office. Additionally, fan wars began too amidst the movie clashes, resulting in good PR or bad publicity for the films online.

The Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Chhava’ seems to want to avoid this clash as the release of the movie got pushed back to next year. Initially, Chhava was speculated to be released on the same day as Pusha 2, starring Allu Arjun. However, now the makers of Chhava have postponed the release of the movie to February 2025.

Taran Adarsh shared the news on social media: “VICKY KAUSHAL – RASHMIKA – AKSHAYE KHANNA: ‘CHHAAVA’ NEW RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT… #Chhaava is now set for a theatrical release on 14 Feb 2025… The release date holds special significance since it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on 19 Feb 2025.”

Chhava is a biographical movie based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. So, a possible reason for the postponement of the film could be to commemorate the iconic figure’s bloodline on his celebratory day, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

Chhava also stars Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna and is directed by Dinesh Vijan. The movie title Chhava means “lion cub,” which was the nickname of Sambhaji, and a tribute to his father, Chhatrapati Shivaji, nicknamed the Lion of the Maratha Empire. While Chhava holds a special meaning in the hearts of Marathas, Pushpa 2 has the power to overtake this film at the box office of Pusha mass appeal.

Pusha 2 stars South’s blockbuster star Allu Arjun, who successfully delivered a stellar performance in Pushpa, creating a buzz for its second installment. Hence, this pushback of Chhava is the right move for the producers of the movie to capture the right emotion and audience at the right time.
