Today, the 53rd birthday of Tabu is being celebrated, a name synonymous with the term versatility and poise in acting. Since the great actress has played more than three decades into film and cinema, not a day goes by in her journey of films without the perfectness and excellence in terms of depth of performance done with resonance, not just throughout the country but throughout the globe. From Bazaar in 1982, a child artiste to Hum Naujawan (1985), it was only her lead role in Telugu hit Coolie No.1 in 1991 which marked Tabu’s entry into all kinds of films, from serious drama “Maachis” to subtle “Chandni Bar” that earned her the National Award for Best Actress.

She has won numerous Filmfare awards, particularly for performances in films such as Virasat, Astitva, and Haider; and she has played out characters with a rawness that is truly authentic and is equally comfortable with an ordinary Bollywood masala hits to the international projects like The Namesake and Life of Pi. In bold step, this year has witnessed her with one more – she has announced for releasing a new Hindi film Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and for the very first time has ventured herself in the Hollywood Dune: Prophecy series. Dune is the much-acclaimed prequel for it.

As Tabu’s aunt, the legendary Shabana Azmi, aptly puts it, Tabu is “a class apart” and doesn’t “look like a manufactured product.” Her grace, wit, and depth have made her a true icon, adored by fans and respected by critics.
