Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam in Awarapan 2, the much-awaited sequel to the 2007 hit, set to release on April 3, 2026, with a fresh storyline and new direction."

The sequel to 2007 hit Awarapan was announced officially on the 46th birthday of Emraan, leaving fans by surprise who have been eagerly waiting for his return in one of his favorite characters for years. Vishesh Films has produced the movie, which is in the pre-production stage now and will hit theaters on April 3, 2026.

Awarapan 2: The Sequel We’ve Been Waiting For

The original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, was the quintessential 2000s genre-defying film, known for dark storytelling, unbridled emotions, and the classic soundtrack by Pritam. From the South Korean action film A Bittersweet Life, it followed the life of Shivam, a melancholic gangster wrestling with his past and attempting to repent.

The soulful background music of the film, including chartbusters such as Tera Mera Rishta and Toh Phir Aao, turned into Bollywoodites’ anthems. Emraan’s naturalistic performances and the film’s tightly-woven script rendered Awarapan a favorite of individuals over a duration of time.

Presently, with the director changed to Nitin Kakkar and Bilal Siddiqi scripting, Awarapan 2 will re-visit the allure of the first and provide a new twist.

A Teaser That Brought Memories

To celebrate the announcement, Emraan Hashmi uploaded a teaser that struck an instant emotional note with the audience. The video showed Shivam on a boat, looking at a sunset, before freeing a bird from its cage. His eerie voiceover, “Kisi aur ki zindagi ke liye marna hi meri manzil hai”, on the back of Tera Mera Rishta, generated nostalgia for the original movie.

What’s Next for Emraan Hashmi?

Apart from Awarapan 2, Emraan will also debut in Telugu in OG with Pawan Kalyan and be seen in G2, a sequel to Goodachari. He will also be seen in the BSF drama Ground Zero.

With Awarapan 2 announced, fans are eagerly awaiting Emraan’s return as Shivam in what appears to be an intense and unforgettable edge-of-the-seat movie experience. Mark your calendars for April 3, 2026!
