Padma Awards recipients are out and several notable names have graced the list including singer Arijit Singh, late. singer Pankaj Udhas, director Shekhar Kapur, actor Ajith Kumar, and folk singer Sharda Sinha among others. On every Republic Day, the Padma Award is announced and this year Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi announced 7 Padma Vibhushan, 113 Padma Shri, and 19 Padma Bhushan.
The Padma Bhushan is awarded for distinguished service of high order, while the Padma Vibhushan is the highest award given for distinguished and exceptional service. Padma Shri is awarded for distinguished service in any field mentioned above. Folk singer Sharda Sinha who passed away on 5th November 2024 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is awarded the Padma Vibhushan for her contribution to music, especially her Chhatth songs.
Director Shekhar Kapur, late singer Pankaj Udhas, Jatin Goswami, and Anant Nag, among others, are going to be awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan. Arijit Singh and Ricky Kej are awarded the Padma Shri for their contribution to the field of music.
The Padma Award is one of the highest civilian awards in India awarded to exceptional and distinguished service in the fields of art, public affairs, engineering and science, trade and commerce, social work, medicine, education, literature, sports, and civil service. This award is announced every year on 26th January on the eve of Republic Day and awarded by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan around March.
