The first look of Akshay Kumar’s Kannappa has been released with Akshay Kumar’s look as Mahadev. This is Akshay Kumar’s first debut in Telugu films with the role of Almighty Lord Shiva. The poster of the film accompanies the tagline “The Supreme Leader Who Rules Over The Three Worlds Surrender Himself to Pure Devotion.”
Akshay Kumar shared the poster for the same on this platform, captioning it, “Stepping into the sacred aura of Mahadev for #Kannappa. Honored to bring this epic tale to life. May Lord Shiva guide us on this divine journey. Om Namah Shivaya!”
The movie is set to release on 25th April and is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. Vishnu Mancha plays the role of Kannappa Nayannar in the film who is a devoted follower of Shiva, The film stars notable names from the Telegu film industry like Prabhas, Brahmanandam, Rahul Madhav, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, and Kajal Aggarwal.
The movie took nearly a decade to materialize and start filming as the movie is based on the mythological life of Kannappa whose life is set in Andhra Pradesh. His devotion to Lord Shiva led him to even sacrifice his eye to the lord. Moved by his devotion, Lord Shiva appeared in front of his devotee to restore his eyesight and liberate him.
This story is believed to be closely connected to the story of the Srikalahasteeswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh.
