Akshay Kumar Says No to Sankranthiki Vasthunam Hindi Remake

Akshay Kumar has adamantly denied his participation in the Hindi version of the Telugu blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunam, thus, finally putting an end to the speculation.

Akshay Kumar not in Sankranthiki Vasthunam Remake

The buzz in Bollywood entertainment just recently hinted at Akshay Kumar being roped in for the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunam. The fans’ imagination went wild and director Anees Bazmee took it as his next project in which Akshay would portray the character of Venkatesh Daggubati from the original screwball crime comedy musical action film. The Telugu version (2025), directed by Anil Ravipudi, was a grand success in both box office and critical reception – with Venkatesh, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Meenakshi Chaudhary starring in it, and Dil Raju of Sri Venkateswara Creations turning it into reality. The plan was to have the remake also produced by the original makers.

The superstar-actor has now made a statement that puts an end to the speculation. On the basis of several fact-checking agencies, Akshay is not involved with the new project. Sources say that even if the conversations might have been around, there is still no agreement, and the remake will not take place.

Why the Speculation? Context Behind the Buzz

The Telugu Sankranthiki Vasthunam is a major blockbuster of the Indian film industry that combines love, music, humour, twists, and fights. This is the kind of successful formula that Bollywood has always been attracted to, coming from Tollywood (Telugu film industry).

Considering Akshay’s trend of making Hindi remakes of regional hits and his earlier collaboration with Bazmee in the case of Welcome (2007) and Singh Is Kinng (2008), the movement did not seem too far-fetched by most. A rumour about his part, therefore, seemed to be a continuation of the thought process for the people watching Bollywood. But still, corporate insiders claim that there was only interest in the talks and nothing more was gained from that stage. Akshay’s team reportedly has been very upfront that he is willing to work with others, but the Sankranthiki Vasthunam remake is not on that list for now.

Another Rumour with No Truth

In the world of gossip, it is always the same story – and this case was no different. Akshay Kumar’s denial is a strong signal that not every speculation is based on truth. The remake of Sankranthiki Vasthunam will not be featured in his filmography. But in an industry that is accustomed to surprise announcements, the eyes will be curious – who knows what could be next?

At the same time, there are many fans who still hold the position of a close observer and are waiting for the next movements in this matter.
